Miami Seaplane Base

Seaplane Tour!

Aspace For3 visited Miami Seaplane Base, a historic landmark and working public airport on Watson Island. It’s a pretty cool spot that offers flying out in one of the seaplanes and you can also park your own aircraft if you need to. You can also plan an event at their facility with them having many different options to choose from.

When we visited, we were greeted by David, a young aspiring pilot who was going to school at the time and was very close to getting his flying credentials. He was able to give us a close up tour of the seaplane they had there when we went. So hubby climbed up with him to get a feel for how you fly one of those seaplanes. I opted to stay safely on the ground.

There was a lot of information to take in with how these types of planes work, both inside and out. It was very cool though learning something totally new and bringing that information to our viewers was cool. I would really love to be able to fly on one of those seaplanes one day. I’d probably be scared silly but I’d still do it. These particular flights take out you out to Bimini, their most popular destination, but they also fly to other nearby destinations.

When you first walk into the office you see right away a lot of vintage artifacts all over that were very cool. Lots of old pieces from seaplanes and old phones like the pics you see up above. This airport first opened back in 1926 and it was known as Chalks International Airlines back then.

If you would like to see the tour we had of the seaplane and see how all the gadgets work to fly it, please go and check out our YouTube video. You can just click below and watch the video. You can also check out our other videos of places we’ve been.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog. Don’t forget to meet new faces, see new places and always leave a space for love!!!!!
